Velit Workshops in Tehran

Working in partnership with Dana Energy, we will be in Tehran hosting three workshops between the 28th January to the 1st of February at their offices: No. 140, Shahid Dastgerdi (Zafar) St., Shariati Ave., Tehran, 1919935331, Iran. The workshops will consist of two 2-Day workshops and a 1-Day workshop.

We aim to bring users up to a level of competency in the software, resulting in all attendees on the course being able to understand how they can use Velit to interrogate their data to optimally derive a depth conversion function per layer that will produce minimal residual errors at the known well locations.

The course structure begins with loading data from Petrel and understanding the drag and drop user interface of the Velit Data Exchange linking module (Velit DE), where users associate their time surfaces with their formation tops in depth, resulting in the layer definition being completed on data import. This, combined with the simplified new method of loading stacking velocity and point set data, enables quick and easy data transfer into Velit, resulting in improved workflow efficiency.

The course then covers how users can use an array of tools and view modes to QC their data, displaying data in different domains as an example, demonstrating the importance of scrutinising outliers in the dataset to build more robust velocity models.

Throughout the course, users are engaged in following through the depth conversion methods available in the Wizard module, moving toward an understanding how the software may also be driven through the powerful Workflow module, or accessed manually.

The course culminates in an understanding of the constrained Monte Carlo technique of assessing uncertainty associated with the Best Technical Case depth conversion model, and the analysis of the multiple realisation dataset that is generated through this process.
