What’s New in KSI 2024

High Frequency Compatibility for Offshore Wind Data

The main development this year is the adaptation of the software to incorporate the ability to perform seismic inversion on high-frequency wind farm data. This change is effective for all modules: Colored Inversion, SA Inversion (Acoustic Impedance, Shear Impedance and Density), Pre-Stack and EEI Inversion.

Seismic Sample Rate Changed from Integer to a Floating Number

This change has been incorporated to overcome the issue of the software previously could only cope with sample rates of 1ms, 2ms, 4ms 8ms, etc. Now it is possible to perform inversion on data at any given sample interval e.g. 2.579ms, for example, data which is extracted from depth volumes. This is now shown in the software in the Inversion Calculation Parameters tab.

Inversion Project Units – Now Both Imperial and Metric are Switchable

Within Kingdom Seismic Inversion, the units are no longer tied to the Kingdom parent project and are now user definable.

Historically Kingdom Seismic Inversion could only work with data in Imperial or Metric units after the data had been loaded. Now it is possible to switch the units on the graphs used throughout the software and the software axis will scale the data appropriately, including the ability to manually swap the units of the micromodel. Another important aspect is that data recorded in Metric units can be loaded and automatically scaled to Imperial units, and vice versa. This change also encompasses the ability to output a project in Imperial units, with inputs in Metric, etc.

Hi-Def Macromodel Builder Units

Imperial and Metric units can now be selected for input/output and for the creation of the Macromodel file used by the software.

An option also exists to skip the SEG-Y file generation, if the user wants to use one created by LogToVolume.

Save Session File

The Save Session file has been updated to include the saving of the displays relating to the units. This save feature is applicable for the 3 Simulated Annealing Inversion types: Acoustic Impedance, Shear Impedance and Density.
