Kingdom User Group Meetings

Equipoise Software are currently attending worldwide User Group Meetings with our partners IHS, where Equipoise have been giving presentations for VelPAK and Kingdom Seismic Inversion, parts of the IHS Kingdom Suite of Programs.

After successful UGMs in Oslo, Paris and London and Beijing our next stop is Tokyo UGM on Friday 15th April.

This is followed by:
Perth UGM on Tuesday 19th April
Jakarta UGM on Thursday 21st April

Of particular interest to delegates in Paris and Oslo was our sales team presentation on the new features of VelPAK – specifically the new and enhanced data loading wizard and the depth conversion wizard – allowing the user to depth convert layer by layer quickly and efficiently using a variety of standard depth conversion methods building detailed velocity models for domain conversion, risk reduction and reservoir characterisation. The new HiDef utility was also demonstrated – this takes a background model and adds the character of the sonic logs to that volume in a geological and geophysically consistent way, so the resultant velocity volume will still be accurate for depth conversion, tie the wells and retain the velocity gradient in the low frequencies of the volume, but with log scale detail.

It was also useful for users of VelPAK to see a presentation on the Kingdom Seismic Inversion and vice versa. The Coloured Inversion software has expanded to become SA Inversion which generates absolute acoustic impedance using the simulated annealing method. SA Inversion is a robust and stable technique where results are a band-limited equivalent of a sonic*density well log at every trace location incorporating low-frequencies (absent in Colored Inversion and High Frequency Inversions) making it a key component for accurate and detailed reservoir characterisation.

EAGE Workshop on Velocities: Reducing Uncertainties in Depths

Equipoise Software will be also be in attendance at the “EAGE Workshop on Velocities: Reducing Uncertainties in Depths” in Kuala Lumpur 25th-27th. This workshop will be focussing on all aspects of reducing uncertainties in velocities, including applications in velocity model building and depth conversion with case histories highlighting successes.

Come along and meet us!
