The feedback we have received from many industry associates, is that the effect of downturn over the last 4 years, has left companies with skeleton crew, with many individuals having workloads that exceed their capacity.
It is of note however, that the general level of education within the industry of seismic time to depth conversion is relatively low. Given the significance to CAPEX expenditure of accurate depth prognosis, potentially saving $millions in misplaced wells, determining a company’s stock value through their reserves estimations and the health & safety consequences of properly delineating the position of geohazards, it of high importance to the financial sustainability of the industry that we raise the education standards of this discipline.
To this end, we address these needs by teaching basic theoretical elements behind depth conversion, interspersed with the operational use of VelPAK/Velit in a single day’s teaching. The format for the day is as follows:

In order to provide this depth conversion training, there are the logistics of the training room to be considered. Each person in attendance should have a computer (or 1 computer between 2 at a push) with dual screen setup, installed with Kingdom and VelPAK, or Velit for Petrel. The training dataset is also required to be installed on each PC before the date of the course.
