Well Tie Analysis As Part Of An Integrated Seismic Inversion Workflow in The Kingdom Suite

Kingdom is an ideal platform for Reservoir Characterisation since it offers users advanced cross disciplinary collaboration. Leveraging inputs from Kingdom modules and Analytics Explorer, as well as Harmony, S&P Global’s engineering platform, to provide you with more confidence in your analysis. Using these as inputs to inversion, Kingdom Seismic Inversion is able to provide high quality results that offer increased insights into your reservoir.

Kingdom Seismic Inversion provides a full suite of inversion workflows through an easy-to-use tool kit that reduces time spent on task and rework and enables the interpreter to complete advanced geophysical workflows typically done by a specialist.

With the addition of Pre-Stack inversion and inversion feasibility methods in 2020, we can compete with the leading inversion applications with a lower cost of ownership and we combine the latest technology and the efficiencies of connection to Kingdom and its tools like Kingdom Analytics.

A new video on the Equipoise Software YouTube channel discusses the steps required to perform a well-tie analysis in The Kingdom Suite, under the Geophysics – Modelling – Single Well Synthetic tab.

When editing a synthetic, keep in mind a rule of thumb threshold of +/- 10% of the original velocity.

If seismic data is zero phase, then it is OK to use a statistical wavelet. If data is not zero phase, there will be issues in using a statistical wavelet.

If logs are in reasonably good condition, it is appropriate to use a Walden-White wavelet for the well-tie.

Stretch-squeeze technique is typically performed from the top of the log down.

A Correlation Coefficient over 0.5 would be considered reasonable to work with, but it is important to iteratively spend the time to achieve the highest value permissible within the dataset. For example, a value of 0.7 and above would be desirable.
