Equipoise Software in the U.S.A

The 85th Annual SEG Exposition, held this year in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans, had quite a low turnout in comparison to previous years, but the show was still a success for us!

We showcased the new 2016 developments to our Depth Conversion software Velit and VelPAK, which includes the Depth Conversion Wizard and the Data Loading Wizard (for VelPAK users), both of which significantly improve the usability of the software. Our software is now suitable for all levels of user experience to interface with and drive, enabling users to perform detailed velocity modelling quickly and easily.

The HiDef macromodel builder developed for InSeis and Kingdom Seismic Inversion 2016, enables well log data to be propagated through a velocity volume, whilst conforming to the background trends of the original volume. This development was very well received by all those it was showcased to.

After the show our partners at IHS put on a fantastic ‘after show party’ at Galatoire’s on the infamous Bourbon Street.  Here we were treated to a wonderful spread of food, and some rather lovely cocktails! A great night was had by all!

When in New Orleans, do as the New Orleanians do! …so we went aboard the Steamboat Natchez ‘The Last Authentic Steamboat on the Mississippi River’ and enjoyed great food, live jazz music and the good company of our clients.

After New Orleans, the next stop on the list was Oklahoma City.  We were called on by IHS to present all the virtues of reservoir characterisation in VelPAK, and how our Simulated Annealing Inversion can generate very meaningful relative impedance and absolute acoustic impedance, to two companies in town.

Thereafter there was a quick trip across OKC to the airport to fly to Houston. Again we supported IHS here and gave similar presentations to two companies based in this part of Texas.  The last day of our whistle-stop-tour of three different American southern states, saw us head to NASA! Seeing the size and scale of those rockets up close and personal, was really quite something!
